Year of the Dog: Italian Spinone

I went to Emmaus in Bolton the other day with Ethan, my friend and her kids. We hadn’t been there long when we spotted a really excited puppy! I wasn’t sure what breed the beautiful puppy was but it turns out he’s an Italian Spinone, what a handsome boy! Alfie is only 11 weeks old but he’s already getting big! I l looked up the breed when I home and they grow to a good size. Alfie was very happy to see us, he was very excited and loved playing with Ethan and his pal Stanley. He also really enjoyed eating stones, his human mummy has to spend lots of her time taking stone out of his mouth! Alfie gets to go work with his humans which is great, he also shares an office with a parrot!

I’ve had a great day today! I’ve been on a trip to London with work and I got to visit the fantastic Horniman Museum and whilst outside I spotted the most amazing dog called Louie! At first I thought he might be a Leonberger but he’s actually a very handsome Estrela Mountain Dog. I’ve never met a Estrela Mountain Dog before so I was very keen to feature him on my blog! Louie is a really friendly boy and as you can see from the photo’s he’s very friendly! I got to give him lots of strokes, such a gorgeous boy.

What an exciting day!  I was out and about at lunchtime today in Manchester when I spotted a couple walking two gorgeous Puli’s, I couldn’t believe it! Puli’s are amazing, what a super cool breed of dog! The last Puli I saw was my ex-boyfriends when I was 18, quite some time ago now! I really hoped to see one last year during my Year of the Dog so I was really pleased today to see two. Zebbi and Kimba are both beautiful friendly girls, I gave them both a good stroke. They are like celebrities, I wasn’t the only person to stop and take a picture of them, it happens everywhere they go! Zebbi and Kimba are both from Hungry but they are from different breeders. They both get on well with each other for most of the time! They both love snuggles and Kimba likes to rest her head on her humans feet, whilst Zebbi likes to lie on her back with her feet in the air.

Year of the Dog: Brilliant dogs in the park!

I went to the park this afternoon and I couldn’t believe it when I spotted two Neapolitan Mastiff’s! I was very excited, I really wanted to see one last year for my Year of the Dog but unfortunately I didn’t meet any (they are pretty rare), so I couldn’t miss the opportunity to say hello. To make it even more exciting there wasn’t just the two Neapolitan Mastiff’s; their humans also  had two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, two German Shepherds and two Border Terriers with them, they own 9 dogs in total (one was at home)! What a lovely group of dogs they are, I got to give nearly all of them a fuss. One of the Neapolitan Mastiff’s is a little shy so Bella offered her services to pose for me! Bella is a very friendly girl, I gave her lots of strokes! Bella went to live with her current human when she was 2 years old, her previous owners didn’t know what they were taking on and decided they weren’t the right humans for her to live with. She’s very happy with her 8 dog siblings now!

It’s been quite along time since I last posted a picture of a gorgeous  doggy but I couldn’t resist sharing a picture of gorgeous pooch I met today! There was a market set up outside work today and beautiful Hilda a British Bulldog was on one of the stalls with her humans. I thought of an excuse to go outside a meet her and I gave her a good fuss, what a beautiful friendly girl!

I walked past later in the day after my lunch so I had to go and say hello again and make her a dog of the day! She was in her little bed when I went over but she ended up getting out so that I could give her a good stroke. She put her head really far back so I could stroke her chin, she also gave my hand a little hug, so cute! As I’ve said many times before, I absolutely love Bull dogs, I want Hilda to be my best friend! Hilda is a rescue dog and has been with her  current humans since July last year. Unfortunately Hilda was not treated well by her previous humans and has the scars to prove it. I’m very pleased she’s got such a loving home now.

Year of the Dog: I’m missing dogs!

It’s been 6 days since I completed my Year of the Dog challenge and I’m really missing it! It’s so strange to not have to go and search for a dog every day; I find I’m still constantly on the look out for dogs! I also haven’t even got to stroke a dog for the last 6 days! I was going to pop round to my friends house last night and I would have got to see gorgeous Alfie from Day 113 but she wasn’t very well so I didn’t end up going round! Hopefully I’ll bump in to a dog today!

Year of the Dog Day 365

I’ve done it! Today is the final day of my blog, day 365! I can’t quite believe it! It’s been a fantastic year, I’ve literally met hundreds of amazing dogs! I just want to say a huge thank you to all the people that have followed the blog, the lovely dog owners that have let me take pictures of their brilliant dogs and of course all of the gorgeous doggies themselves! I also want to say a huge thank you to my son Ethan who has been very patient whilst I’ve taken the photo’s and my husband Tim who has also been very patient and supportive (he’s also my IT support!). I also wanted to thank my mum and dad who have come on loads of dog spotting walks with me, they’re the best! Thanks also to my friends who have also been dog spotting for the past year!

I was very excited about meeting Dog 365 today so I decided to visit Heaton Park as I knew there would loads of dogs there! It didn’t take me long before I spotted one of my favourite breeds of dog, a Dogue De Bordeaux so I went over to say hello. Lucy is a very happy girl indeed, she has a massive smile on her face all of the time! She was having a great time running and leaping about! I gave her a good stroke, she’s extremely friendly. Despite her friendly face her human told me that some people are scared of her because she’s so big; she’s a gentle giant though! Lucy’s human has owned a number of Dogue De Bordeaux’s and unfortunately he lost one, Brody earlier this year. He also foster’s Dogue De Bordeaux’s whilst they find their forever home. Lucy was also out with one of her neighbours who takes her out for a walk whilst her human daddy is at work.

I popped into a shop and when I got out Tim told me that a tiny puppy Pug had just walked past so I ran up the street looking for it. I couldn’t spot them about so I figured that they might have popped into a shop! We walked past a little pet shop so I peeped through the window and spotted the absolutely gorgeous Pug puppy! Oreo is a beautiful friendly girl. It was her first trip out to Totnes and I think the trip might have tired her out a bit, she was closing her eyes as I was stroking her!
